Racial Justice Strategy
Achieving equality in Camden is impossible without racial justice. Our approach falls into 3 pillars:
Our External Work. We are a small team, but we are well connected and we know our potential for impact beyond our own walls is huge. We’ve written to our partners telling them how they can help achieve racial justice, we’re carrying out research to plug gaps in knowledge and we’re holding deep ‘Racial Justice Conversations’ with our supporters.
Internal Work. Our staff and trustees are playing a part in ensuring Camden Giving is an inclusive place to work and our racial diversity is our super-power. We have a staff and trustee racial-justice sub-group and all staff are expected to engage in anti-racist learning.
Grantmaking. We’re ensuring our Community Panellists are equipped with the knowledge to award anti-racist grants, we never assumer that experiencing racism makes any of our Community Panellists experts in racial justice. Around 70% of our grantees are from the global majority, but we know there’s more we can do to ensure leaders from the global majority access funding in Camden.
